Day to Day
The Planner II will provide support in the development and implementation of the Campus Master Plan, which will take about 8 months to finalize the development, and 4 years to manage the implementation.
Develops or manages feasibility studies related to planning issues, coordinating with faculty, staff, and consultants. Advises on classroom/laboratory layouts, furniture selection/specification, signage/wayfinding, and other planning related scope.. Researches campus planning issues such as land use, environmental reports, boundary surveys, and utility infrastructure. Manages move processes including coordination with end users and external moving companies.
Researches, collects, analyzes, and reports on data used for the analysis of planning efforts including land use, space utilization, campus landscape, parking, transportation, infrastructure, sustainability, peer institution data, and other areas as requested.
Manages outside consultants in space planning and building program development by preparing scope documents, recommending consultants, reviewing and negotiating proposals, managing projects in the department's project management software, organizing stakeholder meetings, providing design feedback, administering contracts, and reporting on progress.
Works with departments to track and implement the goals, objectives, and policies of the Campus Master Plan.
Participates in capital project design phases, particularly in Advanced Planning and Schematic Design, to ensure the building program requirements and owner's project requirements are being implemented.
Applies a working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, guidelines, and best practices to projects as appropriate.
Assists in the development of campus wayfinding plans. Coordinates the ongoing update of campus signage. Assists in the development of interior building signage standards, and update of signage within campus buildings. Reviews design phase plans and submittals to ensure consistent signage design is implemented across campus.
