General position summary:

The Forestry Technician will assist Foresters with a variety of forestry fieldwork in Southern Oregon. Location is flexible.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

* Timber cruising and check cruising

* Marking and painting trees prior to harvest operations

* Harvest unit layout

General forestry field and office work

Job Skills:

* Understanding of cruising and forest measurement techniques

* Working knowledge of forest management

* Ability to work independently

* Basic skill level in Microsoft Office and Excel, ArcGIS a plus

* Excellent communication skills

* Enthusiastic and team-oriented individual

Job Conditions:

• Work is performed both within the field and in our offices.
• Field work to be performed in all weather conditions, steep rough terrain, and a variety of settings including open fields and forested areas.
• Requires overnight travel on a regular basis, accommodation provided.
• Computer use, physical ability to operate a telephone, and sit for extended periods of time, may lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Education and/or Experience:

• Enrolled in a Forestry or related program at an accredited college or university.
• 0 to 5 years' experience as a field technician or forester

* Combination of experience and education

• Valid driver's license
