Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician must have the ability to troubleshoot, install, inspect, maintain, and repair all electrical equipment typically found at a Biosolids Gasification Plant. Typical equipment would include but is not limited to, breakers, motors, lighting, transformers, heat tracing, power feeds and cabling. Such activities shall be performed within the guidelines set forth by company and site policy/procedure for safety, health, environmental and other regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Understand and follow Aries Policies and Procedures including ACT Safety Program and Policies
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Perform general electrical maintenance.
  • Trouble shoot electrical issues, diagnose malfunctions; determine and take corrective action to restore electrical or electronic equipment or systems to service.
  • Test and repair problems on electrical and electronic circuits (Voltages up to 13,800VAC and 250VDC)
  • Utilize electrical test equipment, meters, Meggers.
  • Inspect, maintain, dismantle, repair, test, alter, and reassemble such electrical and electronic equipment as motors, generators and related auxiliary equipment, circuit breakers, control equipment, relays, signals, power and light circuits, fiber optic systems, transformers, and other power equipment.
  • Maintain drawings, records, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to learn specific skills on maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of motor operated and air operated valves and their associated controls.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Three years (including apprenticeship) or more of industrial electrical maintenance experience in the repair, inspection, testing, installation and/or maintenance of related plant equipment including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
  • Formal or informal training in electronics and pneumatics, instrumentation, or electrical discipline

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance requirements used to establish and maintain scheduled electrical maintenance program for the plant's equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of plant electrical systems and able to do switching to clear circuits for equipment maintenance safely and correctly.
  • Ability to follow, interpret and act on written and verbal job instructions, reports, technical manuals, and data.
  • Ability to inspect, repair, and maintain electrical and/or electromechanical operating and control systems, equipment, and fixtures, including instrumentation, and heating and cooling systems.
  • Ability to clean, test and install batteries.
  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment and wiring.
  • Ability to operate test equipment such as voltmeters, meggers, amp meters, and high potential test equipment.
  • Ability to perform skilled electromechanical repair work on plant equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to provide support to other crafts and vendors including installations of temporary lighting, removal of piping and cables.
  • Ability to communicate status of jobs, or work issues to management and craft personnel.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and associated software.

Physical Requirements:
  • Plant Environment: Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with cold and heat stress.
  • Work around large rotating equipment and energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations more than 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater.
  • Must be prepared to work irregular or rotating shifts and respond to emergency callouts 24/7
  • Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs.
  • Lift, carry, position, and use tools and/or equipment (weighing up to 50 lbs.) in awkward positions, swing various weights of sledgehammers, stoop, and bend to reach valves, pull on chain-falls or come-a-longs.
  • Ability to perform work from ladders, catwalks and supports at various heights
  • Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials
  • Have ability to discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals.

Working Conditions and Requirements
  • Direct exposure to heat, cold, humidity and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to cover odd shifts and work overtime as required by upset conditions or planned downtime.
  • Regularly communicates, detects, converses and must be able to convey, express, and exchange information.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Frequently needs to be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Required to use a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as required by site or regulatory policy and procedure.
