Estimating Intern Responsibilities
Assisting with Estimates:
Gather architectural plans, specifications, and related documents to assist in preparing estimates.
Learn how to create and maintain takeoffs (quantities of materials needed).
Help prepare preliminary estimates for construction projects.
Understanding Industry Terminology and Practices:
Familiarize yourself with estimating terminology and practices used in the construction industry.
Knowlege about cost estimation methods and techniques.
Analyzing Blueprints and Specifications:
Work with project blueprints and specifications to accurately estimate project costs.
Understand project scope and requirements by reviewing plans and requirements.
Supporting the Bidding Process:
Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and requirements to support the bidding process.
Collaborate with estimators and project managers to ensure accurate estimates.
Maintaining Organized Project Files:
Keep project files organized and accurate.
Ensure all relevant information is properly documented.
Rate and Unit Cost Determination:
Help summarize task and subtask estimates, including determining rates and unit costs.
Contribute to the development of clearly written proposals and correspondence.
