Job Description:

Petrie Construction is a nation-wide general contractor seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team! Senior Project Manager will work out of our Aberdeen, MD office. SPM will provide executive management oversight for all phases of construction projects, including development, organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. SPM will be liaison between project teams and company management. This consist of coordinating project teams, subcontractors, material, and equipment while ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding with quality, on schedule, under budget and with customer satisfaction. Applicant must have good temperament, be detail oriented, organized, and work independently with demanding deadlines.

Principle Senior Project Manager Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple project teams throughout construction, providing executive oversight of project teams.
  • Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of projects following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
  • Minimize exposure and risk by implementing and auditing safety standards and quality assurance controls.
  • Coordinate work of subcontractors working on various phases of multiple projects through Project team.
  • Oversee performance of project teams.
  • Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Supervise managers and superintendents, reviews reports, check on any reported difficulties, and correct any safety violations or other reported deficiencies.
  • Provide weekly executive report on project health to company management.
  • Oversight of Project Management team to track and control construction schedule and associated cost to achieve completion of projects within time and monies allocated.
  • Report to owner, architects and portfolio managers about progress and any necessary modifications. Plan, implement, track and closeout/turnover of construction projects. Attend Owners project meetings and occasional site visits.
  • Manage project teams who manage day to day operational and tactical aspects of multiple construction projects in a supervisory role.
  • Manage day to day client interactions and expectations, directly or in a supervisory role.
  • Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability and project costs to company.
  • Manage and achieve revenue goals set for projects.
  • Generate and issue regular internal and external project reporting through company software.
  • Project changes in scope and revenue and ensure appropriate measures are taken.
  • Oversee Submittal Review process between Subcontractors/Suppliers and design team.
  • Budget management including review/approvals set to defined approval thresholds.
  • Weekly executive reporting to company management.
  • Responsible for overall project success and client satisfaction.

SPM Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills, emphasis on Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Procore.
  • Dispute Resolution.
  • Financial and Job Cost Accounting Knowledge.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.

SPM Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Project Team: Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Contract Admin, Estimator, Administrative personnel.
  • Must be able to perform at all project management levels.

SPM Training/Employee Development Responsibilities:
  • Professional development of directly supervised employees to ensure their growth within the group.
  • Continuing education to expand knowledge base.

SPM Working Conditions:
  • Airline and automobile travel required.
  • Work in an office and field environment.
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.

SPM Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or similar.
  • 15+ years construction management/general contracting experience.
