Position Summary

Perform calibrations, write part programs, and operate the Lab equipment, such as the high accuracy CMM, roundness tester, quick vision, surface tester, and other equipment in support of calibration work.

What You'll Do:  

1.       Perform calibrations, write part programs, and operate the Lab equipment, such as the high accuracy CMM, roundness tester, quick vision, surface tester, and other equipment in support of calibration work.

2.       Work on special projects related to the specification, calibration, and compliance of Mitutoyo products.

3.       Develop calibration procedures utilizing the advance metrology equipment in the Calibration Lab.

4.       Document developed procedures and train the Lab Technicians.

5.       Develop various software tools as needed to assist in calibrations in the Lab and for use by Field Service Technicians.  Test, document, and train employees on the use of the developed software tools.

6.       Recommend new equipment, software, and fixtures for the Lab in order to improve processes and meet increasingly demanding tolerances.

7.       Collect, chart and analyze calibration data to verify stability and conformance to specifications.

8.       Perform gage repeatability & stability studies and run Inter-Laboratory Comparisons/Proficiency tests.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment:  Office Environment.  Quality Lab where incumbent is exposed to chemicals.

 

Physical Demands: Lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.  Use of hand truck, carts and stapler.  Must wear Personal Protective Equipment such as: booties, lab coat, and gloves. 

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. 

Monday – Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM

 

Travel: As necessary, to support seminars and other educational events in the Chicagoland area. Other travel may be occasionally necessary to support events like the NCSLI annual conference.

 

Required Education and Experience: Four-year degree or education equivalent.

Five years’ experience.  

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Proficient in reading blue prints, interpret basic GD&T, knowledge of measurement uncertainty, and Microsoft Office.
