Position Summary

The Brand Activation On-Premise Marketing Team activates Constellation’s brand strategies throughout the on-premise channel with national account, regional and independent retailers. As part of the Constellation Brands Beer Marketing Division, this team works closely with our on-premise sales team, key retail customers, and cross functional teams such as brand marketing, retail connections, field marketing, innovation, legal, finance and insights along with agency partners.

The On-Premise Marketing Director is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans that drive profitable growth, volume and build brand equity within the on-premise channel for Constellation Brands beer portfolio. They must be able to understand and translate brand strategy, channel strategy and sales strategy into actionable strategic plans that deliver against consumer and sales objectives. Forming and maintaining productive and collaborative partnerships with key sales leaders and stakeholders is critical to success in this position as they will influence strategy development, go to market approach and investment modeling in support of Constellation Brands on-premise business. 

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Brand Activation – Retail Connections, this individual is expected to provide leadership within the marketing function and across the sales organization for all opportunities and issues impacting the business within the channel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of two Marketing Managers, one Associate Marketing Managers and one Marketing Specialist to translate brand, channel and sales strategy into impactful initiatives and campaigns that deliver volume and revenue growth for our beer portfolio in the on-premise sales channel

  • Develop strong relationships with internal on-premise sales teams, sales operation team and key retailers, providing industry insights, thought leadership, and new approaches to drive distribution and velocity for Constellation Beer brands


  • Be the voice of the on-premise channel to Brand, Field Marketing, Lifestyle & Experiential, Brand Activation and Enablement Teams providing insights and input into agency briefs, planning and process as needed for integrated campaigns and oversee development workstreams for standalone on-premise efforts

  • Work with Brand Activation, Brand Marketing and Sales partners to ensure alignment behind annual budgeting, strategic priorities and pulling ideas through to the on-premise channel with appropriate resources to deliver an integrated approach

  • Lead the rollout and communication of commercial on-premise marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation and spend of central budget across priority markets and strategic priorities

  • Proactively innovate by identifying new and emerging marketing and media tactics and technologies to help drive execution and establish Constellation Brands as a growth and thought leader within the channel

  • Lean into consumer insights to identify trends and opportunities that can inform strategies and initiatives

  • Manage and lead agency team members and relationships with external vendors to execute flawless activation across initiatives and to stay well-versed in channel innovation

  • Lead the team in auditing of on-premise initiatives as part of total bi-annual Brand Activation ROI workstreams, recapping and analyzing marketing programs to cross-functional teams with KPI’s aligned to achieve committed sales and marketing results

  • Embed effective First Party Data collection as part of consumer experiences that deliver value proposition to the consumer and to the brands

  • Thought leadership and/or experience in content generation that can be repurposed within brand channels as part of in or post activation activity

  • This position is based in Chicago; preferred 2 – 3 days in office based on team schedules, travel and team/leadership meetings. 25% travel.

  • Role is a member of Department SVP’s extended leadership team

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree is required, MBA a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience in On and/or Off Premise Trade, Shopper or Field Marketing, within a fast-moving CPG organization. Ideal candidate will have a experience working closely with Sales and Cross Functional Marketing Teams in the development of national and/or regional marketing programs.

  • Successful experience managing creative agencies, including defining scope/staffing, and production vendors to create engaging consumer initiatives and best-in-class consumer facing, creative point of sale / merchandising materials.

  • Experience in leveraging national and local sponsorship assets as part of brand initializes across any channel

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both in development of compelling stories and in presenting them at all levels within internal and customer organizations

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize, and solid financial acumen.

  • Strong teamwork skills: ability to champion projects and work with interdepartmental functions to achieve project completion in a smooth and timely manner

  • Motivated self-starter and be able to work without daily guidance

  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

  • Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience the Beer, Wine or Spirits industry

  • Experience & comfort with preparing for and presenting to retail buyers at large retail accounts

  • Experience with and understanding of 3-tier distribution

The salary range for this role is:

$127,500.00 - $203,600.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
