Job Description:

REPORTS TO: Sr. Quality Assurance Manager
Job Summary: The Spice Handler prepares ingredient batch packs according to recipes and specifications by measuring/weighing exact quantities of raw ingredients. They log/report raw ingredient usage in the company system.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED1-2 years experience following task specifications, SOPs, recipes, etc.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Must have above average communications skills both verbal and written.Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.Must have above average math skills.Must have basic computer skills.Must have above average multi-tasking skills.Must have above average organizational skills.Must be an excellent team player.Problem solving skills a plus.Must be detail orientated.Must have good judgment and decisiveness.Must be reliable and prompt with all work activities and duties.Must be able to operate a mobile scanner device (RF gun) for inventory and tracking and control. Shall be neat, tidy, organized, and energetic.Must possess the ability to keep accurate daily and weekly reports. Must be able to manage company confidential information.Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with little or no supervision. Must be reliable, punctual and have schedule flexibility including working weekends, Holidays, and off-shifts as needed. Must be able to comply with company attendance and punctuality policy.Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.Must adhere to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy. Must be able to enforce, comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.)

Essential Functions/ Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safety Standards and Guidelines at all times. Shall keep QA Manager informed of all activities, which impinge on spices issues.Maintains a daily updated inventory of raw material for the formulas.Responsible for preparing the spices and ingredients used in production.Responsible for preparing the batch packs under company specifications.Prepares spices orders for customers (for example: Puentes)Maintains all chemicals and containers properly labeled.Responsible for filling up ingredient containers as needed.Responsible for keeping the work area and the Spice Room clean at all times.Shall be highly proficient with ingredients Weight Control.Shall assist with R & D Testing, Recipes and Product Formulations.Responsible for adequate rotation of ingredients.
Shall verify materials for compliance with company policies.Shall assist with Quality Control/Assurance Processes and Procedures, including finished product quality checks (for example: size, weight, code dates, bake, etc.) when needed.Shall be familiar with the company line of products.
Shall assist in promoting an open relaxed atmosphere to promote employee creativity.Shall follow ingredients-handling requirements.
Shall take an active role in keeping housekeeping rules in the spice room.Shall assist with maintaining a firm safety discipline and report unsafe acts and conditions.
Shall maintain first-rate and meaningful reports and documentation. May assist production department when and where required.Other duties as assigned.
