Job Description:

Senior Crew Chief Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Mastery of various drilling/exploration methods and their applicability to varying situations.

  • Communicate directly with project managers, clients, schedulers and supervisors on a daily basis.

  • Collect and log factual field data to the specification and/or job instructions provided.

  • Keep a boring/coring log of data and samples obtained and other required information.

  • Responsible for daily production and efficient use of drill crew's time as required by scope of work for individual projects.

  • Responsible for maintaining rig equipment and tools.

  • Responsible for the quality of field data and crew safety.

  • Proficient in trouble shooting mechanical problems and equipment repair.

  • Proficient understanding of local geology.

  • Effectively identifies and solve problems.

  • Select correct processes from prescribed rules, past practices and experience.

  • Prepare daily production reports (DPR).

  • Work in compliance with corporate health and safety policies.

  • Follow all safety and DOT regulations.

  • Complete safety training as required.






Supervisory & Support, Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Serve as a leader and compliance champion within the drilling department.

  • Oversee the development and performance of select Crew Chiefs and Drilling Assistants through regular reviews and maintaining consistent communication with team members regarding performance metrics, goals, and training.

  • Facilitate and maintain open communication with your Team members for training, mentorship and troubleshooting equipment and drilling techniques.

  • Support the management and tracking of safety, performance, training, and maintenance records for the department.

  • Ability to problem solve through personal experience, leveraging the guidance/experience of others, and anticipating hidden problems.

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking ability.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings (boring logs, email, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of mathematics

  • Technological and computer skills sufficient to meet and exceed the requirements of the role.






Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School diploma ore equivalent preferred, post-secondary vocational degree preferred

  • 10 years geotechnical drilling experience required, 10+ years preferred.

  • Operator experience on specific or comparable drilling rigs to the ones used at Braun Intertec

  • Active CDL A with insurable driving record

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a state drilling license is required. An active state drilling license is preferred.

  • The ability to travel at least 50%, willingness to travel as much as 100% when necessary is preferred.
