Assistant/Senior Assistant Director - Washington Metro Area

Serve as enrollment management professional for regional recruitment in the Washington Metro Area (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) of the United States within the framework of the University's enrollment targets, consistent with the mission and annual objectives of the admissions office. Manage a geographic recruitment territory and conduct activities to support the recruitment of academically qualified and diverse first year and transfer students. Conduct large and small group presentations, visit high schools, attend college fairs, and represent the University of Vermont. Build effective relationships with schools, CBOs, students and families within the territory. Communicate regularly with prospective students and parents. Review applications and make admissions decisions. Independently plan and execute recruitment strategies and events in a regional territory.
Bachelor's degree and three to four years of admissions/territory management experience required. Demonstrated multicultural competency and a commitment to recruiting a diverse student population.
Effective oral and written communication skills required. Computer literacy and a comfort with technology required. Ability to travel required. Must be an independent worker and a self-starter while also being able to collaborate in groups. Residency or easy access to the Washington Metro Area (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) and familiarity of recruitment landscape of these territories strongly preferred; consideration to other residency locations in reasonable proximity to the DMV will be given. Senior Assistant/Associate title is based on directly related experience. A valid driver's license is required. This position is fully remote, but travel to the Burlington campus at key points in the year will be expected (estimated 3-5 times).
Ability to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish and/or Mandarin.
$46,000 to $58,000/year
Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Bargaining unit position, Position located in different city, Non-standard work hours required, This position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
