Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Pathology; plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab investigating the mechanisms underlying the molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms underlying cortical regulation of pain sensation in a physiological state as well as a pathological state induced by cancer and injury; performs advanced molecular biology and cellular techniques and procedures such as cell culture, viral production, tissue harvest, tissue sectioning and staining [immunofluorescence (confocal microscopy) and immunohistochemistry], microdissection, solution preparation and microscopy, and computerized image analysis; performs two-photon imaging and/or behavioral analysis with small animal surgery (mice); collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; performs additional duties as assigned.
This postdoctoral training will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Hiroki Taniguchi.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in neuroscience or cellular molecular biology field required.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have experience in areas including but not limited to mouse genetics, mouse behavior, two photon imaging, electrophysiology, RNA-sequencing/analysis, and cancer biology.
