JOB SUMMARY:

The Land Analyst will provide land administration support for company assets and a growing acquisitions program. This key role will analyze and process leases, contracts, title opinions, and other legal documentation associated with acquisitions and divestitures, as well as day-to-day administration for existing company assets.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Research, analyze, or calculate ownership, net revenue interest, working interest and lease information from oil and gas royalty and non-operated working interest properties, using materials such as pooling and spacing documents, affidavits, leases, land/well files, title opinions, ownership reports, and deeds
  • Support all phases of land/land administration evaluation and due diligence for acquisitions, to include coordination, data organization, transfer, and formatting, analysis, and research of title opinions, assignments, conveyances, stipulations of interest, pooling affidavits, unitization Agreements, purchase and sale agreements, etc.
  • Create, maintain, update, monitor and/or optimize processes and best practices for company land records and database administration in the company’s internal land database system, including analyzing key documents to set up, maintain, and cross-reference complex leases, mineral deeds, contracts, and other agreements
  • Provide support, analysis, and expertise to the Division Order Analyst as they process Division Orders and revenue statements, coordinating with accounting and revenue data to ensure pay status on company assets
  • Create, maintain, update, and/or monitor critical records, updates, and reports such as key provisions, obligations, and expiration reports
  • Support leasing activities, legal negotiations, and business development with analysis and review of various oil and gas agreements, providing instrument or exhibit preparation when requested
  • Satisfy title requirements when applicable
  • Communicate and work with operators, fellow non-op working interest partners, mineral owners, and transaction counterparties to solve complex curative issues
  • Assist with building presentation materials for management team
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Broad understanding of land administration with detailed working knowledge of one or more of processes such as oil and gas leasehold, mineral rights, title, key provisions, and ownership calculations – mineral and royalty specific experience preferred.
  • Experience working with an integrated land system and industry specific software – experience with SalesForce, MineralSoft, and Enverus systems highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge and competence with computers and various software such as MS Office suite (particularly advanced Excel and PowerPoint) – Tableau, ArcGIS, SQL, or programming experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – a big picture thinker who can navigate and organize significant amounts of data with attention to detail and find patterns, with the natural curiosity to research to fill gaps in a data set
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • A detail-oriented, proactive, organized, team player who is excited to learn and contribute to a growing business

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Four-year degree in Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, Business, or a related/applicable field, with 3+ years of recent oil and gas industry experience in land administration; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
