Structural Design Engineer at Live Oak Engineering in Birmingham, Alabama

Job Description:

Coordinates, designs, reviews and submits proposals, and serve as the Engineer of Record on a variety structural engineering projects. 

• A BS or MS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and at least 5-10 years’ experience in a position with emphasis on structural design and analysis.
• PE registration preferred
• AutoCAD, Revit preferred.
• RAM Steel and Frame
• Ram Elements
• ENERCALC
• Focus on light gauge steel
• Experience in the analysis and design of steel, light gauge steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures for static and dynamic loading from foundation to super structure
• Experience in the use of finite elements on complex structures and use of application software in structural design.
• Extensive experience in the planning review, layout and details of contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, field inspections and investigations; independent usage of resources in the application of code requirements and preparation of technical reports.
• Experience in the understanding of industry and regulatory practices and trends.
