Job Description:

SUMMARY:


The Supervisor of Support Services provides leadership and support for the Support Services team of event technicians. The Supervisor oversees setups for special events, coordinates office moves, and provides deliveries/installations as needed for projects. Performs minor assembly or breakdown of equipment and furnishings as needed.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



Support Services Management

  • Assumes line management responsibilities for Support Services staff, on- and off-campus:
  • Provides leadership and supervision for event technicians.
  • Ensures adherence to established standards for attendance, courtesy, professionalism, and customer service
  • Schedules staff and prioritizes work assignments.
  • Ensures that staff follow all safety guidelines and University standards for the operation of vehicles.
  • Provide hands-on training to staff and implement training identified by management.
  • Manages and verifies work orders in the University's event management system.
    • Ensures work orders are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Oversees consistency and clarity of work orders, diagrams, and paperwork associated with events, projects, and other areas of responsibilities.
  • Provides setup and support for events on campus.
  • In inclement weather, serves as a backup driver for the campus shuttle, transporting employees on, around, and off campus.

Project Management

  • Maintains storage areas and inventory
  • Assists in managing inventories for equipment and residence hall furniture.
    • Event furniture, tools, vehicles.
    • Maintains the routine upkeep of equipment, university vehicles, and tools.
    • Supervises assembly and repair of furniture.




WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Office environment and event venues, including indoor and outdoor spaces. Must be able to work inside and outside in hot, cold, wet, humid, rainy, and/or windy conditions.
  • Physical requirements include keyboarding, walking, standing, stooping, climbing stairs, hammering, and lifting up to 70 pounds.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with diplomacy and to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, public relations, and customer service skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize work assignments
  • General knowledge of using small electric and hand tools, basic furniture repair, forklifts, and the operation of various sizes of non-CDL trucks.
  • General computer skills: experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and learning new computer software programs.

  • REQUIRED: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience managing events, personnel, and inventory
  • Previous supervisory experience required

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, non-exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; requires occasional nights and some weekends, including special University events
  • All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel, and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis, and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the immediate supervisor

SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 4 (Hiring Range $17.70 to $22.12 per hour)
