Job Description:
The Head of Digital Scholarship services is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing current and emerging research support services, including, digital scholarship, digital humanities, data management, scholarly communications and digital maker space technologies. This position collaborates with faculty and staff to build and nurture campus partnerships with Information Technology Services, the Division of Research, Harpur College's Digital and Data Studies program and others. They work in a collegial environment, where communication and collaboration are two of our critical values for supporting each other, the Libraries, and the campus community. The salary for this position starts at $75,000 and is commensurate with experience. This is a tenure-track position.
The position reports to the Senior Director for Library Technology and Digital Strategies.
Librarians at Binghamton University are faculty members and are expected to contribute significantly to the profession.
About the Binghamton University Libraries:
The Binghamton University Libraries provides research collections in electronic (over 2 million and growing) and print (1.7 million items) formats with an extensive array of databases and e-packages (over 400), archival and distinctive printed materials in Special Collections as well as services with a variety of student-centered study spaces. With three public locations (Glenn G. Bartle Library, Science Library and the University Downtown Center Library) and an off-site Collections Management Facility, our aim is to provide access to primary research materials and resources befitting an R1 research institution.
The Binghamton University Libraries staff of over 85 experienced faculty librarians, professionals and staff offer many research-forward services and opportunities including information literacy programs, research consultations, an Open Repository and Digital Preservation Services and our Library Research Scholars Program, a research mentorship program for undergraduates. Additionally, we are excited to elevate our impact to the Binghamton community with the much anticipated completion of the Bartle Library third-floor renovation project that will feature a digital scholarship center, a teaching makerspace lab and collaborative project spaces.
