The CEO of Aperture Hotels is seeking a highly accomplished professional to lead a steadily growing hotel portfolio of branded and independent limited-service, upscale select-service, and compact full-service hotels.

The Person

The successful candidate will be a collaborative, strategic thinker who shares our values and has a passion for excellence. The ideal candidate will have proven experience successfully managing a hotel management company's portfolio. The candidate most likely currently holds a COO, or comparable senior operations role, having earned that role through natural career progression involving multi-unit leadership across key brands and independent hotels. The person will possess broad executive skills, a deep proficiency in food and beverage and have practical experience with transitions and pre-openings. The individual will play a critical role shaping the direction of Aperture Hotels and should be comfortable acting autonomously to develop and implement key processes and measurable benchmarks for success.
  • 10+ years successfully managing full P&L for full-service, select-service, extended stay, branded and independent hotels and executive leadership experience in a geographically dispersed multi-unit organization.
  • Regarded as a problem solver who routinely demonstrates critical thinking skills and possesses the innate capability to identify and bring creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong relationships within leading franchise brands and a successful track record of executing operational excellence.
  • Proven success in leading teams in a fast-paced, non-bureaucratic, ever-changing organization.
  • Upbeat, open, visible communication skills, and regarded as someone who brings energy, humor, and integrity to the business and community. Possess a professional and appropriate business appearance and attitude.
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Preferences include ability to be Atlanta-based, has some experience with unions, and has a history of brand and industry awards.

The Role

In this newly established position, the Chief Operating Officer will lead by driving operational excellence across the portfolio through exceptional revenue enhancement, profit management, customer experience, and team member engagement while enhancing the value of what Aperture Hotels brings to owners, clients, stakeholders, and employees.

The COO will provide leadership for the company by working directly with the CEO and other company executives to accomplish short and long-term goals, alongside a vision for the future.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a fast-growing portfolio of 23 hotels, with 500+ employees through a growing team of 3 direct reports, including two Vice President of Operations, one Senior Vice President of Commercial Strategy, and their indirect reports including one Regional Director of Operations and one Vice President of Operations.
  • Drive an organization that is committed to and aligned with the company's core values - Be Transparent & Accountable, Be Actively Curious, Embrace Growth, Create Value for Stakeholders, Commit and Care
  • Define, communicate, and implement the organization's culture and refine supporting operating systems, communication channels, controls, and procedures.
  • Take a leadership role in selection, training, development, and retention of hotel management teams.
  • Make a meaningful difference in operational outcomes and optimize performance through coaching and managing performance of the portfolio hotels toward continual improvement as measured by the company's Balanced Scorecard.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of key industry trends, sales indicators, supply and demand dynamics, key performance indicators and related topics through industry-leading systems and resources.
  • Serve as a key liaison with hotel stakeholders and franchisors on operational issues and related matters.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to drive initiatives that contribute to company and individual hotel growth, with a keen focus on innovation, best practices, and continuous and sustainable improvement.
  • Work closely with the finance and accounting teams to develop and manage budgets, with an eye for innovative cost-saving measures.
  • Spearhead the development and launching of new hotels per brand standards, certifying alignment with the company's fiscal and operational standards.
  • Establish and direct hotel maintenance programs to deliver memorable guest experiences, ensure life safety, and extend the useful life of the assets.
  • Continually aware of industry trends and issues, track early-warning indicators, and implement solutions for those issues.
  • Lead and expand the company's current ESG strategy.
  • Expert in risk management, risk mitigation, and crisis communication. Recognize and correct potential risks.
  • Communicate and report effectively to the CEO on operational performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure that hotel operations comply with local and international laws and regulation practices.
  • Use independent judgement with sound, critical thinking skills.
