The Lead Beverage Scientist will be responsible for benchtop development through commercialization stage of alcohol beverages. The candidate will formulate new innovations, product optimizations, and cost reduced formulas. This position operates in a fast pace dynamic environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Work independently to formulate beverages across Proximo portfolio including global brands
Qualify alternative ingredient vendors
Lead cross function teams though product tastings and provide technical recommendations
Conduct plant trials, develop product specifications, and create BOMs for commercialization readiness
Provide technical risk assessment as related to new product development
Manage filing of documentation with TTB
Screen, develop, and update internal flavor library
Manage formula P&Ls
Create SOPs and ensure proper documentation is maintained in internal databases
Participate in trade shows and conduct competitive market analysis to stay abreast of industry trends
Work cross functionally with Marketing, Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Quality Control, and externally with vendors and copackers
Maintains good housekeeping and follows safety procedures in the lab environment
Lead formula optimization initiatives
Establish protocols for stability studies and support analytical testing with QC as required
Be the technical expert on high proof spirits and alcohol RTDs
Experience/Skill requirements:
Minimum BS in food science or equivalent field
Minimum 10 years FMCG experience, ideally beverage (soft drinks or alcohol)
Flexible - looking to work in a less structured, less 'corporate', fast moving, dynamic and rapidly growing business. Open to both domestic and overseas travel.
Must have good olfactory perception.
Excellent communication skills and able to work with minimum supervision.
Experience with beverage technology and bottling principles.
Demonstrated influencing skills and technical expertise.
