R&D Fabricator/Machine Builder at Plastipak Packaging Inc. in Jackson Center, Ohio

Job Description:

As a Fabricator/Machine Builder you will be responsible for various jobs throughout EDC, from fabrication to assembly of large blow molding machines to small auxiliary machines that fit onto existing machines and equipment as well as the fabrication of small brackets/guarding to machining and detailed machined parts using manual mills and lathes. 

Our Development Center in Jackson Center is a lead innovator in blow molding machine builds and product development of containers for top consumer brands. In this role, you will contribute to Plastipak’s high quality standards and positive team culture.

You Will

• Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.


• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as tape measures and calipers.


• Sets up and operates welders, drill press, band saw and hand tools to fabricate parts and verifies finished product to print.


• Provide feedback to Engineers on customer problems and needs. (feasibility of design, problems in manufacture)


• BluCo fixture table, tig welder, mig welder, tubing notcher and bender, plasma cutter used onsite


• Minimal Travel required for troubleshooting or setting up machinery at multiple Plastipak locations.

You Have

• High school diploma / general education degree (GED) is required.  Trade school, vocational education and minimum 3 years work experience preferred.


• Proficient Welding capabilities


• Mechanically inclined


• Strong Attention to Detail.


• Strong Time Management skills
