SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and championing the SQE performance for the business unit and fleet of vessels, and reviewing the effectiveness and efficiency of operational practices, processes, and procedures.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions and manage continual improvement program.

• Conduct incident investigations. Publish occurrence announcements and follow up on corrective actions to evaluate effectiveness. Coordinate effective personnel training and evaluation programs.

• Provide business units with operational support to reduce personal injuries, vessel and equipment damage and environmental spills and implement safety and environmental awareness and incentive programs.

• Ensure compliance with 1). Federal/State/Local laws, rules, and regulations 2). Company policies 3). Customer requirements, marine terminal regulations, Charter Party requirements.

• Maintain positive relations with federal, state, and local governmental agencies.

• May maintain, revise, and edit all Fleet and Office procedures manuals.

• Required to compile key statistics and reports data to internal and external customers.

• Maintain office of Designated Person (DP) or Alternate Designated Person under the ISM code.

• Be able to serve as an alternate "Company Security Officer (CSO)" under USCG and IMO regulations. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in nautical science or marine engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE: 5 or more years professional/managerial experience in marine operations and/or safety, health, and environmental management.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to apply skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving, and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.

OTHER: USCG senior licensed deck or engineering officer preferred.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
