We have immediate full time openings for a Psychiatric Triage Clinician (PTC). The ideal candidate will perform mental health and chemical dependency evaluations for patients in the Emergency Department at the request of the ED physician. The Triage Clinician formulates dispositions which are implemented with the Triage Psychiatrist's approval. The PTC verifies insurance and obtains any necessary preauthorization for all levels of care. Assessment, discharge planning, crisis intervention, advocacy, information/referral and follow-up recommendations are the basis of the triage intervention. The PTC monitors the available inpatient beds and coordinates with the central access team on bed placement. The PTC communicates all insurance interactions to the Utilization Review Manager in a timely manner. The PTC also serves as the backup Human Rights Officer (HRO) as required by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health.



Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program and Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations (if applicable). Licensed to practice as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Job Knowledge & Skills: Seasoned clinician well-versed in clinical disorders, crisis intervention and brief treatment; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work in a demanding environment. To succeed as a clinician in this service, one must be flexible, resourceful, decisive and uncomplaining; knowledge of the special needs and behaviors of children, adolescents, adults and older adults preferred.
