Job Description


The Buckeye Brain Aging Lab (B-BAL) is directed by Dr. Scott Hayes. Our lab studies the relationship among aging, physical activity, cognition, and the brain [using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) metrics]. We also examine neural correlates of memory in healthy and clinical populations. The Research Technician assists in the general coordination and conduct of research in the B-BAL. These activities include administration of neuropsychological tests and/or questionnaires to young and older adults; participant preparation and data collection at the MRI scanner; assistance with cognitive and MRI data processing and analyses; supervision of undergraduate research assistants; participant recruitment efforts between the laboratory and community partners. Programming experience in either UNIX or MATLAB and familiarity with MRI data analysis software is preferred but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, physics, or engineering are encouraged to apply. Position available for one year with the possibility of extension for additional years based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.




Minimum Education Required


Bachelor's Degree in a social science, computer science, physics, engineering




Required Qualifications


At least 1 year of experience that would be relevant for cognitive testing and/or MRI data acquisition and analysis.




Desired Qualifications


Programming experience in either UNIX or MATLAB, as well as experience in neuroimaging data analyses; knowledge of software packages, such as FreeSurfer, FSL, AFNI, or SPM.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $15.00-$18.51. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
