Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Centeroffers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.



About the Kathi & Bob Postlethwait Mental Health Recovery Center:



The Kathi & Bob Postlethwait Mental Health Recovery Center, situated on the seventh floor of the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, is a 30 bed inpatient unit dedicated to individuals experiencing episodes of serious mental illness, requiring a secure and supportive environment for their recovery journey. Recognizing the significance of preserving each patient's autonomy, the center prioritizes safety while fostering an atmosphere that respects patients' rights and dignity.


The overarching objective of the Kathi & Bob Postlethwait Mental Health Recovery Center is to facilitate the return of patients to their homes and communities at the earliest suitable juncture. Outpatient case managers collaborate with patients to navigate this transition, ensuring a seamless continuity of care and support post-discharge.

Am I Qualified?

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Two years of experience in Behavioral Health OR equivalent post-secondary education (Bachelor's or Associate's degree).


• Current CPR certification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Embraces and operates under the Recovery Model, incorporating AIDET and the spirit of motivational interviewing.


• Provides skills training and development to clients in both group and individual settings, guided by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment plan.


• Offers crisis management and emergency interventions, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and approved area-specific crisis intervention techniques.


• Regularly reports to the treatment team during staff meetings, discussing successes, challenges, client progress assessment, barriers to success, and any level of care changes.


• Adheres to the agency's standard of delivering appropriate services at the right time, right place, and right frequency, based on the client's level of need.


• Ensures timely completion of all documentation, interpreting and applying service and billing procedures according to client needs, and completing billing with precision and timeliness.


• Establishes and maintains a safe environment by continuously assessing the milieu/appointment environment, intervening as indicated in the person-centered treatment plan, and following nursing or physician orders.


• Meets agency requirements for continuing education to stay current in professional development.


• In the Mental Health Recovery Unit and Triage Only:


• Actively participates in the seclusion/restraint team to control physical aggression.


• Performs selected nursing procedures consistent with Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, and monitoring nutritional status, within the scope of practice and as assigned by the supervisor.

• Must meet the following basic competencies as applicable: CPR, CPI, Animal Education, Medications, Legal, Addictions, Age-Related
