Position Summary

The Lead Residential College Coordinator will serve in a formative mentorship capacity among a group of assigned peers, providing support and guidance around administrative procedures, timelines, workloads, and other areas related to the day-to-day operations of the coordinator position. In collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Undergraduates, the Lead Coordinator will work with various campus partners to establish consistent procedures that support the overall effectiveness of residential college operations. Additionally, they will assess the current programs and processes and make recommendations to improve college effectiveness. The position will be responsible for maintaining the colleges' high standards related to student life and community development that support the institution's educational mission. They will provide guidance for risk management education, student leadership development, and advise on event planning, including late-night and weekend programming. The Lead Coordinator will meet regularly with campus stakeholders in planning various activities throughout the year and provide recommendations as needed. They will also provide support in the development of onboarding and training initiatives aimed at standardizing procedures and services and identifying areas of skills development for college coordinators.

Annual Hiring Range: $56,000 - $62,500 hiring salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree

    • In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted.

  • 3+ years' experience in residential college office and or an academic departmental setting

    • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted.



Skills:

  • Proven communication skills, including written, oral, and visual.
  • Advising high-level student leaders in 1-1 setting
  • Proven ability to oversee event planning and programs.
  • Proven ability to instruct students and staff in risk management and program planning.
  • Must have some exposure in student activities; leadership development; student government; supervision.
  • Ability to create training programs for staff.


Preferences:

  • Master's degree
  • Three or more years in a related student services or administrative office experience
  • Experience as a College Coordinator strongly preferred
  • Experience working with college students.
  • Rice experience
  • Knowledge of a university setting, and the terminology associated within the residential college system.
  • Knowledge of FERPA and Title IX
  • Experience with Banner, Google Docs, BOX, Adobe Sign, Oracle Systems


Essential Functions:

  • Provides oversight for program area(s) related to all advisement of programs, risk management, leadership development, and financial responsibility.
  • Develops and guides operating policies and procedures for the area.
  • Manages processes, sets goals, and provides performance feedback and professional development.
  • Oversees, plans, and implements programming and outreach for student leaders, the magisters, and the campus community.
  • Leads in the development of programming for student leaders and students in the college.
  • Responsible for program logistics, including budgeting and risk management.
  • Advises and guides student leaders in the planning and implementation of program and event logistics, including risk management.
  • Develops, plans, and implements programming and outreach for student leaders and the campus community.
  • Responsible for logistics and marketing related to area(s) of responsibility.
  • Documents and assesses area functions on a regular basis.


Additional Functions:

  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders to standardize procedures and improve operational efficiency, with particular attention to student safety and wellbeing.
  • Provides guidance around college budgeting and financial processes.
  • Works closely with the Office of the Dean of Undergraduates to develop and implement strategies for professional development.
  • Updates the DOU senior leadership around college programming and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Implements, administers, and evaluates day-to-day business and administrative activities of the college and colleges assigned.
  • Provides peer groups resources and implementation to manage unit budgets and monitors and approves expenditures, including iO line manager for student accounts and delegate for magister expenses.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing onboarding and professional development initiatives for college coordinators.
