Threat Tec, LLC, a Veteran-Owned Small Business, has an immediate opening for a Language Instructional Developer to join our growing company at Fort Liberty, NC.The European Portuguese Language Instructional Developer (LID) ensures that the POI delivery achieves and/or exceeds goals and expectations by coordinating and facilitating delivery of new, existing, or modified curriculum, manages, monitors and enforces deadlines and learning management system, coordinating speakers, and serving as a liaison for Government LREC manager, faculty and students. Simultaneously, they would assist in the educational evaluation oversight of students, faculty and the curriculum and ensures the quality of the student's educational process and their progress by overseeing testing, tracking individual student academic performance and curriculum data.

Requirements

  • The European Portuguese Language Instructional Developers (LID) shall assess organizational language training needs and develop and recommend optimal solutions based on the nature of the training requirements, the available resources as articulated by Government, and the time available.
  • The LID shall work alone or as the lead for an integrated team of developers, instructors, and technologists.
  • Shall develop detailed plans with milestones, manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensure robust communications with all stakeholders are maintained, and meet deadlines.
  • Shall develop synchronous, asynchronous, and blended training solutions.
  • The LID shall implement some solutions within an LMS and other solutions in traditional or analog formats.
  • Provide instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as regional and culture subjects, using modern communicative methodology.
  • The LID will meet, at a minimum, biweekly with the Government representative for Japanese and Portuguese Development. LID will be required to develop Training Support Packages, training schedules, and language training materials.
  • Language Instructional Developers shall meet all qualification, education, and experience levels outlined below and be effective using communicative, learner-centered, and task-based LREC teaching strategies for adult learners.
  • Competent in classroom management, developing lesson plans, and use of supplemental materials.
  • They shall be familiar with the Interagency Language Roundtable Proficiency Levels and how they relate to proficiency-based and task-based instruction, Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), military topics and terminology. At a minimum, the military content contained in the USSOCOM 200 Hour Familiarization courseware. Language Instructors shall be qualified on use of PC-based computers, Windows Explorer, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), installing and enabling foreign fonts, and common media players (e.g. Windows Media Player, Real Player, common PC driven projectors, SMART Boards, etc.) as they relate to modern LREC instruction.

Qualifications

  • Must have conducted needs assessments using a variety of assessment methods and must have designed and developed synchronous and asynchronous learning, developing blended learning solutions, developing project plans, managing multiple projects, meeting project deadlines, communicating with stakeholders, and working in a team environment.
  • At least 2 years of recent (completed within the last 18 months), experience teaching foreign language or developing language curriculum at the secondary level or higher (a minimum of 200 classroom hours) and a master's degree in foreign language teaching, secondary education, applied linguistics, or a closely related field to be approved by Government.
OR
  • At least 6 years of recent (completed within the last 18 months), related experience teaching or developing language curriculum at the secondary level or higher (a minimum of 600 classroom hours) and a master's degree.
OR
  • At least 6 years of recent (completed within the last 18 months), related experience teaching or developing language curriculum at the secondary level or higher (minimum of 12 week course), a bachelor's degree and documentation showing that the instructor taught at least three 3-6 month courses in ILR 1 to ILR 2 or 6-9 months in ILR 2 to ILR 3 to military students and the average test scores exceeded the goal by at least a half point (i.e. 2+/2+ for a 2/2).
  • All candidates will be required to take and pass the foreign language test
