Exercise Planner at Threat Tec in Homestead, Florida

Job Description:

Threat Tec is seeking an experienced Exercise Planner to provide specialized support to the planning and execution of exercises within the SOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR). As an Exercise Planner, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure exercises meet training objectives and enhance readiness across SOF and joint forces.

Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise in SOF exercise planning and execution to support training objectives within the SOUTHCOM AOR.
• Coordinate with external forces, including SOF, Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Partner Nations, to facilitate their participation in exercises.
• Work closely with participating units to plan and execute various training activities, including field training, logistical support, amphibious landings, airborne and ground maneuvers, air operations, maritime operations, and Special Operations activities.
• Stay informed about current SOF and joint enterprise training requirements by researching past and current operations, joint exercise instructions, and SOF doctrine.
• Participate in working groups, conferences, and meetings to support unit exercise requirements and ensure synchronization across the community of interest.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with operational and strategic level planners and leaders in USSOCOM HQs, USSOCOM Components, USSOUTHCOM, USSOUTHCOM Components, and other relevant organizations.
• Support exercise design, Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) planning, scenario scripting, training, and observations as required.
• Create or review training event concepts, including purpose, objectives, scenario characteristics, processes, and products to align with the mission and objectives of the training event's sponsor.
• Execute additional duties as necessary to support the SOCSOUTH J37 team in fulfilling their training and exercise-related responsibilities.
• Execute other duties as required to support the SOCSOUTH J37 team in the accomplishment of their duties and responsibilities related to training and exercises.
• Travel CONUS and OCONUS for exercise planning and coordination; estimated 45-60 days annually within the USSOUTHCOM AOR. This travel varies year by year based on exercise locations and frequency, as some exercises occur every other year vice annually.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of prior military experience, with SOF experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience serving in a command, senior enlisted advisor, or primary staff billet in a SOF HQs (USSOCOM/TSOC/Component), Service, Joint Staff, OSD, or 2-4 Star level Service/GCC HQs.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience directly interfacing with senior staff (O6/GOFO) at the TSOC, Component, GCC, Service, Interagency level.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and organization skills.
• Spanish language proficiency required to pass annual DLPT with a minimum score of 2/2.
• Must possess and maintain a current Secret clearance.
