JOB SUMMARY



The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for fulfilling the various ancillary duties associated with the daily operation of the cafeteria. This may include, food preparation, dishwashing, beverage counter set-up and maintenance, cash register operation, general cleaning/sanitation of the kitchen, dining area, & beverage counter.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assist Kitchen Manager with various daily kitchen/cafeteria tasks.

  • Prepare beverage counter, including preparing coffee for daily consumption.

  • Clean & sanitize all areas of the kitchen and dining areas according to established standards of hygiene.

  • Interact with employees and completes check-out process on the cash register.

  • Operate dishwasher, maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen service ware such as dishes, utensils, cups, mugs, etc.

  • Assist the Kitchen Manager with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat.

  • Assist with projects such as community events that require special meal prep.

  • All other duties as assigned.






EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • At least 6 months of previous experience working in a cafeteria or restaurant environment.






SKILLS & ABILITIES



  • Ability to read, write, & speak in English.

  • Basic math skills

  • Customer service focused.

  • Sound knowledge of food handling & safety regulations.

  • Ability to work in a team.
