Job Description:

The Transporter/Courier transports patients, equipment, supplies and other items throughout the hospital in a safe and timely manner. Assists in the mobilization/transports of patient's/visitors in reaching destination through the hospital and upon discharge. Follows all patient / visitor protocols. Ensures that requests for information and services are accurately responded to, in a timely and appropriate manner, sensitive to the circumstances of the patient's/guest's emotional situation and privacy needs. Ensures cleanliness of patient equipment.Southern California Hospital at Culver City has been taking care of generations of Culver City and west LA residents. We are a full-service, acute care hospital with a 24/7 emergency department and nationally recognized patient safety. Now at 420 beds, SCH-CC is a general acute care hospital that utilizes many of the latest medical treatments and technologies. The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including an orthopedic center, cardiovascular services, acute rehabilitation, sub-acute care, psychiatric care and chemical dependency programs. Additionally, SCH-CC operates a 24-hour emergency services center, which serves as a paramedic receiving station and is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurse specialists.• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English

• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

• Previous patient transport experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• AHA Basic Life Support

• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)

• Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and other items throughout the hospital in a safe and timely manner. Complies with all infection control measures as appropriate. Ensure patients privacy and dignity at all times. Appropriately follows patient/visitor protocols. Uses appropriate body mechanics for all work activities.

• Ensures equipment is in proper working order; cleans and disinfects as needed or required. Maintains inventory and records of equipment. Delivers, retrieves, and properly returns equipment to storage, keeping work area clean and organized, and traffic pathways clear.
