Position Summary:

The Assistant Research Scientist will design and conduct research focused on development of countermeasures (e.g. vaccines, therapeutics) against high consequence infectious agents including SARS-CoV2 and SARS-CoV1, Burkholderia mallei and pseudomallei, Moraxella catarrhalis, pathogenic Brucella species, as well as influenza, RSV, pox, and Rift Valley Fever viruses. Will also serve as Instructor of Record for Graduate and Undergraduate level courses as well as mentor graduate students. Expected to write grant proposals and secure extramural funding to support research.


Additional Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years' experience in biomedical research in the fields of viral and bacterial infectious diseases and immunology, and with a strong foundation in high consequence agents. Ability to develop and use ABSL2 and ABSL3 animal models (e.g. mouse, hamster, swine) for high consequence agents is required.


Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Tier 1 Select Agent, BS3, ABSL3, BSL2 and BSL2 certifications and at least 2 years' experience working in a BSL3 facility strongly desired.
