Job Title:Facilities Mechanic Sys Associate


Department:Administration and Planning | FOD Operations Mechanical and Electrical: Mechancial



Under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor, performs tasks that ensure the uninterrupted operations of mechanical systems and equipment. Inspects, tests, installs, fabricates, modifies, rigs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical systems and equipment. Mechanical systems and equipment include, but are not limited to: boilers, compressed gas systems, backflow preventers, fire pumps, air compressors, laboratory and industrial kitchen HVAC/R equipment (e.g., ice machines, freezers, refrigerators), rotating equipment (e.g., compressors, pumps), drain, waste and vent systems, specialty water systems (e.g., chlorine dioxide, de-ionized water, reverse osmosis), domestic water systems and plumbing fixtures. Responds to emergency situations and evaluates and corrects defects. Assists other trades as needed; adheres to all safety practices and procedures; cleans and maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; properly completes documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices; operates department vehicles; performs other duties as assigned. Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call.




Minimum Classification Requirements:


High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience; one years' experience in maintenance of HVAC/R, plumbing, or machinist trade and related equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience; obtain the following within the probationary period: EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Universal***; successful completion of probationary period includes demonstrated competence in one of the following technical specialties as determined by the needs of the department: rotating equipment maintenance and repair, plumbing and pipefitting, HVAC/R, or metal working and rigging. **Plumbing and pipefitting requirement ***HVAC/R systems requirement





Additional Information:

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $18.75 - $23.44
