Nature & Purpose of Position:

JOB TITLE: Intramural Sports Program Assistant (Work Study Eligible)
PAY RATE: $12.00 per hourSUPERVISOR: Assistant Director of Intramural Sports & EsportsJOB FUNCTION: Assist with the day-to-day programming needs of the Intramural Sports and Esports programs within Campus Recreation.HOURS: Up to 25 hours per week. Flexible work schedules ( morning, afternoon, and night shifts)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Main point of contact and responsible for assisting up to 500 participants per shift.· Responsible for marketing and promotion of all Intramural Sports and Esports.· Provide exceptional customer service to patrons by having strong communication and interacting with everyone in a respectful, cooperative manner.· Maintain a professional appearance and attitude throughout shifts.· Serve as a resource by providing accurate and current information regarding registration deadlines, rules, and updates on events.· Assist Assistant Director of Intramurals with scheduling, training, and supervison of 35+ studentstaff members.· Consistently analyze trends and patterns in Intramural Sports and Esports to improve the SHSU program offering.· Assist with other duties as assigned (may result in helping other departments within Campus Rec).POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours at Sam Houston State University


• Successfully pass the State of Texas criminal background check


• Completion of SHSU student employee compliance training and any additional trainings required by the department and university

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:· Able to work multiple days of the week Monday through Friday· Possess a passion for working with people and around sports· Be able to work in an active, crowded, and fast-paced environment· Must have an increased focus on being punctual, reliable, and dependable· Excellent communication skills and the able to work with a wide variety of personalities· Open to constructive feedback while also keeping a positive and upbeat attitude· Ability to handle conflict as well as confront patrons in a calm and professional manner
