Job Description:

Waséyabek Federal Services, LLC (WFS) is a 100% Tribally owned, Native American SBA 8(a) small business of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP). WFS is part of a portfolio of companies managed by Waséyabek Development Company, LLC, a 100% Tribally owned economic development firm focused on income diversification on behalf of NHBP that reaches beyond gaming is a well-funded, experienced small business, with substantial liquid assets and experience in federal contracting. WFS has borrowing capacity to meet the daily cash needs of new business development, new award support, and operational working capital. Position Summary

The Laboratory Technician performs laboratory tests according to prescribed standards to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials and substances for purposes such as quality control, process control, product development, or determining conformity to specifications. This role will also work with research and engineering personnel to facilitate laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

• Delivery of high-pressure cylinders and setup.

• Will be required to operate saws, drills, grinders, tap and dies, and other handheld tools.

• Understanding of mechanical drawings and equipment breakdown lists.

• Maintains and services equipment as assigned per manufacturers specifications.

• Inspect and troubleshoot R&D equipment and systems.

• Will be required to learn other lab-related operations on an as-needed basis.

• Perform set-ups and adjusting of various types of laboratory equipment if assigned to a specific lab.

• Stewards of organizational culture with a focus on safety, teamwork, and commitment to service amidst a diverse colleague and customer base.

• Able to adapt/adjust focus and problem-solve within evolving work demands.

• Install gas distribution devices such as regulators, protocol stations, pressure safety devices, and check valves once the skill level has been demonstrated.

• Support research laboratory functions, including coordinating and assisting in experimental tests, installation, and equipment maintenance.

• Aids the Q/A representative in performing pressure testing on various pressurized systems and other inspection activities once skill level promotes efficiency.

• Communicate with research and technical trade staff on specific job tasks.

• Self-motivated, work independently and as a team member

• Required to learn and perform any other tasks as assigned.

• Ability to adjust schedule to meet quickly developing needs of supervisor and other team members.

• Willingness to be on call to provide essential support during unattended operations.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Associate degree or high school diploma

• Minimum of five (5) years of job-related experience.

• Specific training and thorough knowledge in the area of Laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, mechanical design and installation.

• Experience with Swagelok type stainless steel tubing installation, bending and component selection or equivalent hydraulic/gas/plumbing systems.

• Attention to details both written and verbal.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and communication skills

• Broad knowledge of other disciplines carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical.

• Strong reading and math skills.

• Maintain good housekeeping and safety environments in workplace to meet company and industry standard.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen required for a federal facility.

• Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by the contract.

• Possess valid US identification.

• United States citizenship is required to work on a federal contract and will be electronically verified via E-Verify.


Physical Requirements:

This position may require standing for extended periods of time. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as protective suits, safety glasses with side shields, steel toed shoes and mandatory hearing protection. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements:

Some travel may be required, up to 10% of the time. The travel may be local or national and may be by car, rail, or air.
