SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Director, Information Technology oversees all aspects of the business' IT function and ensures alignment with the strategic business objectives of the organization. The Director of IT will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provide strategic direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations including directing the company's overall business intelligence strategy and leading its IT security protocol and performance. The Director, IT will also work closely with decision makers for IT in other Silgan businesses to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the broader organization.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership, Accountability and Business Optimization

Be a trusted advisor to the leadership team and all functional stakeholders, understanding their needs and challenges.

Working closely with the CFO, ensure current and potential technical architecture, investments and solutions are optimized and in alignment with our strategic business objectives.

Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork, development, innovation, transparency, accountability, and service.

Lead and execute cost-effective technology solutions and advancements.

Exhibit strong leadership and organizational skills holding project managers accountable for achieving deadlines and goals.

Must be data-driven, able to establish and leverage key metrics for managing technology effectiveness along with the impact of technology on the business.

Provide leadership to the IT team, including career development, coaching and performance feedback.

Maintain oversight of all technology projects, ensuring all commitments are properly scoped, prioritized, planned, staffed, monitored, and reported.

Establish and enforce all company policies, processes, and development standards.

Develop and meet technology operating and capital budgets.

Build, manage and grow strategic technology vendor relationships.

Successfully convey the value of key IT initiatives to the broader organization.

Must be innovative, with the ability to anticipate problems, and adjust as necessary to develop solutions to mitigate potential ramifications.

Be a business leader, with a penchant for action and a strong drive for continuous improvement.

Collaborative mindset to work closely with other Silgan businesses and their IT leadership, up to and including the global Vice President of Business Technology Shared Services, to liaise on best-in-class solutions that at times will be consistent shared efforts across all of Silgan.

Responsibility for design of, and compliance with, the IT control environment.

Business Solutions/Applications

Optimize our Oracle ERP platform, continuously improving the overall user experience and help to assess and establish our long-term ERP path.

Enhance functionality and performance of our budgeting, forecasting and demand planning systems.

Develop strategy and framework for data governance, and lead team to execute the plan.

Support and streamline the enterprise data warehouse.

Evaluate and improve various user systems, workflows and related approval routings.

Network, Infrastructure and Support
  • Oversee the management of corporate help desk activities, resolve escalations, and ensure key metrics goals are achieved.

Maintain IT Disaster Recovery Plan.

Manage global data network, phone and cellular infrastructure.

Oversee corporate hardware strategy for desktops, laptops, servers, etc.

Update and enhance company intranet and Microsoft SharePoint sites.

Ensure strong IT security defenses including security and threat-monitoring systems, procedures, training, etc.

EDUCATION:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:
  • Ten to 15 years of experience in the IT field including 5 years of managerial experience.

Preferred:
  • 10 plus years IT related experience in medium/large scale organizations, preferably with experience deploying and supporting manufacturing and technology applications.
  • IT management within a multi-site manufacturing environment.

SKILLS:

Required:

  • Management: the capability to organize and manage multiple priorities including effectively executing tasks in ahigh-pressure environment.
  • Strategy and planning: The capacity to think ahead and plan over a 12-24-month time span. Problem analysis and resolution at both the strategic and functional levels.
  • Technical Experience: skilled across information system technologies, service-oriented architectures, telecommunications, network and PC operating systems, applications, and project management.
  • Analytical Strength: strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Data-driven: leverages a metrics-based management approach.
  • Communication: excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to present ideas in language that is easy for all business leaders to understand.
  • Influence: strong influencing and relationship building skills including the ability to interface internally and externally to ensure successful, high-quality outcomes.
  • Customer oriented: strong focus on supporting stakeholders' needs and exceeding constituents' expectations.
  • Team Development: facilitates employee training, development, and retention. Creates a high-performance environment where employees can thrive.
