TK Elevator is currently seeking an experienced Director- Labor Relations located in Chicago, IL.

Responsible for directing and overseeing the company's labor relations programs, policies, and procedures for the U. S Field Operations, which includes multiple labor agreements, approximately 4,000 bargaining unit employees, working in 60 Branches.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Protects the company's interests in all activities by serving as a knowledgeable and credible trusted advisor to business leadership, developing partnerships and effective working relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Serves as chief spokesman for contract negotiations, representing and operationally defining labor policies that are competitive and ensure cost-effective labor agreements.

  • Provides Labor Agreement center of excellence level advice and counsel to field management on contract interpretation and implementation.

  • Manages the collective bargaining agreement(s) based grievance processes and facilitates resolution of grievances while representing the company through various conflict resolution procedures and methodologies with all levels of union representation.

  • Leads the response to charges filed by Union represented employees with outside agencies such as EEOC, NLRB, and other State or Governmental entities.

  • Conducts prompt and thorough internal investigations into employee allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, unethical conduct, threats, violations to company policies and other employment/legal matters.

  • Achieves company objectives by managing, extracting and understanding employment, wage, financial, and operational data from company systems and other sources, performing financial calculations and other data analysis, and using this information to drive business decisions, respond to information requests, support bargaining, dispute resolution and litigation.

  • Maintains open and professional relationships with all levels of management, union leaders, field leaders and HR staff.

  • Works in collaboration with the Human Resources team on the development, administration, interpretation and application of labor relations policies and programs.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree with master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years related Labor Relations or HR work experience is required, preferably in a multi-site, geographically dispersed unionized service operation and/or construction environment.

  • Experience working in a Union environment as spokesperson for negotiations, grievance proceedings, arbitration hearings and pro-active day-to-day labor relations activities is required.

  • Must have superior verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and business judgment.

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource management, labor relations and positive employee relations is necessary.

  • Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks simultaneously not limited to but including counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of policies, procedures and the labor agreements.

  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local labor and employment laws.
