Job Description:

The Deputy Section, Software Engineering and DevOps will support the JETS II in Houston.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Report to the JETS Software Engineering Section Manager. The position is responsible for the management of approximately 40 Employees across software engineering,
• Avionics network engineering, cybersecurity, and DevOps disciplines.
• Maintain a positive, constructive, professional relationship with the NASA customers and other NASA support contractors.
• Interface with NASA software engineering leads & software engineering oversight teams.
• Perform duties as the Software Engineering Deputy Section Manager and Task Order Manager.
• Demonstrate a Servant/Leader approach to management.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Other duties as assigned.

• This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area.
• Must have 10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Previous project management experience required.
• Experience leading a development project across the full development life cycle.
• Must be able to perform employee management duties including recruiting, developing, and terminating personnel.

DESIRED:

• Experience leading a software development project across the full development life cycle.
• Experience in Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with NASA/JSC.
• Prefer 10 years of experience with NASA/JSC flight software processes.
• Prior experience with government contract task order management.
• Prior experience in developing schedules, budgets, and project plans.

WORK LOCATION:

• This position is located on-site.
• This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
• This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
• Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
• Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
• Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
• Must be organized with good time management skills.
• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
• May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
• Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
