Description:

The Financial Accountant I performs professional-level accounting work requiring the analysis and reporting related to accounting transactions. Must have knowledge of the theory and practice of recording, classifying, examining and analyzing data of records, accounting, and financial transactions.

The Role:

  • Performs account analyses to ensure proper recording for grants and general ledger
  • Prepares journal entries for review and approval
  • Prepares statements, schedules, spreadsheets for reporting purposes
  • Maintains and reconciles journals, various ledgers and accounts, and examines all transactions for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Assist with maintaining the fixed asset records, schedules and spreadsheets including additions, retirements, transfer, and annual physical inventory
  • Reviews purchase requisitions and expense reimbursement requests

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of accounting related experience required or Bachelor's degree with a concentration in finance/accounting plus 1 year of accounting experience preferred
  • Must have intermediate proficiency or higher Excel and Adobe skill
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and high degree of analytical ability

Requires:

  • Theory, principles, and practices of general accounting, financial record keeping and financial reporting
  • Ability to present clear and concise reports
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and resolve accounting issues
  • Ability to read and interpret complex financial and accounting documents
