The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology seeks a full-time faculty member at any rank to join the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer's Research Care (HAARC) Center. The HAARC Center seeks to serve as an aging, Alzheimer's disease, and related dementia (ADRD) research hub dedicated to the discovery of neurobiologic, cognitive, genetic, lifestyle, psychosocial, and related factors that promote resilience, resistance, and health span. The Center plans to achieve these goals through multidisciplinary research, community engagement, education, and the development of new evidence-based interventions.


The appointee will be expected to develop and conduct highly impactful research that integrates with and contributes to the multidisciplinary research and educational goals of the HAARC Center and the department. The appointee will be responsible for contributing their skills, expertise, and effort as a key contributor, typically as co-investigator, but potentially as a Principal Investigator, in obtaining, sustaining, and implementing programmatic research at the HAARC Center.


The appointee's research may overlap with and enhance one or more areas of strength within the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) including neurobiology, computational neuroscience, genetics, neuroimaging, and immunology. As such, the appointee may collaborate closely with the University of Chicago Medicine Center for Comprehensive Care and Research on Memory Disorders, the Neuroscience Institute, the Institute for Population and Precision Health, the Aging and Research Program within the Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, the Center for Neurocognitive Outcomes Improvement Research, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, and numerous other programs, centers, institutes, and departments. Other activities of this position may include teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level, supervision of students and trainees, and clinical care, where appropriate.


Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Neurology's HAARC Center with an opportunity for secondary appointments in departments throughout the BSD dependent upon interests and qualifications.

The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago, Hyde Park. The appointee will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities, outstanding colleagues, and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences.


Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree(s), in a related field (e.g., Neurology, Neuropsychology, Neuroscience), 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, if applicable, and 3) be Board certified or eligible in Neurology, Neuropsychology, or related field, if applicable.

Clinical Neuropsychologists, behavioral neurologists, and cognitive neuroscientists with an interest in contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary research center are especially encouraged to apply.
