Provides clinical care to Uveitis patients of the University Hospital and Clinics, affiliated hospitals and clinics and approved satellite locations; engaging in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups as approved by Department Chair; providing staffing to residents seeing Uveitis/Ocular Inflammatory disease patients; teaching residents and house staff about Uveitis/Ocular Inflammatory disease; and performing research relevant to Uveitis/Ocular Inflammatory disease; providing clinical and/or research supervision for ophthalmology residents and fellows. May include activity in satellite locations. Other subspecialty experience is welcomed but not required (e.g. uveitis & retina, uveitis & cornea, etc.).
Position Conditions/Qualifications: Requires a current, valid MD license in Oregon and Washington, and completion of an accredited residency program and Uveitis fellowship training. Must be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Knowledge and Skills: Strong clinical and patient assessment skills. Detail oriented and meticulous in all aspects of work. Requires excellent organizational skills and strong communication and patient relations skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with employees at all levels of the organization is essential. Demonstrated innovation, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills are imperative. Must be pro-active and detail oriented. Ability to work well independently and multi-task is critical. Ability to plan and organize technical work and to adapt to a changing work environment is critical. Must be able to assess and develop work tasks and systems in order to optimize clinic performance.
