Job Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all elements of construction projects related to our sawmills and manufacturing facilities, from initial planning to project completion. This position requires a willingness to spend a significant amount of time in the field during project construction and frequent travel.

Job Duties
  • Demonstrate leadership by prioritizing safety performance and setting an example for others.
  • Utilize extensive expertise to manage projects across various disciplines, including civil, electrical, and manufacturing facility construction, showcasing a high level of knowledge and proficiency.
  • Form and lead project teams to successfully achieve project objectives.
  • Negotiate, administer, and oversee contracts for contractors and consultants.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare and evaluate project performance reports to effectively communicate the project status to relevant personnel.
  • Serve as a liaison between equipment suppliers, designers, fabrication, electrical, and other relevant stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Foster professional and cooperative relationships to achieve shared goals.
  • Proactively anticipate problems and provide timely, cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage daily construction activities, ensuring compliance with the Company's stringent safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels within the Company and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure project compliance with safety regulations, construction permits, building codes, and environmental requirements.
  • Recommend or initiate commendation, corrective measures, disciplinary actions, or terminations for contractors or supervised Company employees as necessary.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing heavy industrial projects or similar roles.
  • Preferred degree in construction management, building science, construction engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong work ethic characterized by integrity, honesty, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, motivation, and people management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple priorities under demanding circumstances.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Project or experience in creating and maintaining Gantt charts is desirable.
