HEAD OF EDUCATION - PRIVATE FAMILY, Santa Monica area

We are a young family seeking a private educator for our two, school aged children. We have high standards and are seeking someone with exceptional credentials to see them through their early academic years.

Schedule: Weekdays in-person from 2:00 PM - 6:30 PM; ability to work remotely as-needed. Sometimes a weekend test prep session.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with experience in education to join our family team and help guide our soon-to-be 4th and 8th graders in their academic journeys. This role involves providing daily after-school homework help, executive function coaching, and generally serving as the Chief of Staff for all things education, ensuring the academic success and development of the children. The position requires in-person availability in the Santa Monica area

Responsibilities:

- Provide daily after-school homework assistance and tutoring in various subjects for two children.

- Implement executive function coaching strategies to help develop organizational skills, time management, and study habits.

- Collaborate with the parents to understand academic goals, priorities, and areas for improvement.

- Develop personalized academic plans and strategies tailored to each child's learning style and needs.

- Identify and support additional specialized tutors in areas that the candidate might not have expertise in.

- Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.

- Monitor and track the children's progress to supplement school reports, identifying strengths and areas for improvement and offering actionable recommendations.

- Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on academic progress and discuss any concerns or challenges.

- Assist in coordinating educational resources, including textbooks, materials, and online resources.

- Serve as the point of contact for educational inquiries and support the children's academic needs effectively.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's degree preferred).

- Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or educational support roles.

- Strong understanding of executive function skills and experience implementing coaching strategies.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with children and parents.

- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children to support their academic success. - Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the children and their academic goals. - The ability to work in-person in the Pacific Palisades area.
