Use safe work practices and counsel other employees to do the same, as necessary. This includes understanding and complying with the lock-out/tag-out procedures. Participate in safety training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to hazards in the workplace
Determine if machines need to be taken out of production for repairs or service
Prioritize work when more than one issue needs addressed at a time
Take an active role in the requisitioning of parts/materials necessary for the continued operation of the plant
Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled and as needed
Know all safety warning signs and signals and take corrective action
Communicate maintenance issues with other shifts to ensure continuity of operation. Read and record comments in both Maintenance and Production logbooks
Ensure that housekeeping in the Maintenance Department is maintained to a safe level and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such area for breaks, meal times and end of the shift
Remain current on plant and safety matters, participating regularly in department/plant safety meetings
Follow established procedures governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and supplies
Report all accidents/incidents to Supervisor, Maintenance
Perform other work related duties and projects as directed
Oversee all electrical needs for the facility (lighting, production equipment, systems, etc.)
Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.
Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
Replace defective electrical switches and other fixtures
Repair and maintain electrical equipment for building
Follow all safety procedures and wear safety equipment or apparel as required
Install machinery and equipment according to blueprints and other specifications with regard to electrical requirements
Qualifications Education :
Two (2) year degree in electrical or trade school certifications for basic PLC, controls troubleshooting, arc flash training, national electrical regulations, high voltage
Minimum of two (2) years maintenance experience working with a variety of mechanical equipment in a heavy industrial environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly
Ability to read schematics or Piping and instrumentation Drawings
Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgement, and include appropriate people in decision-making process
Ability to count and perform basic math functions, including mental calculation of simple equations and/or fractions
Ability to adhere to guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook and follow ISO and management / departmental policies and procedures
Ability to use time efficiently and complete work in a timely manner
Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality and continuously looks for ways to improve and promote quality
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and uphold organizational values
Ability to report to work on time and work all hours required of the job, including mandatory overtime; may be required to occasionally cover shifts other than the one for which hired
Knowledge of proper and safe use of shop equipment and tools
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, rotating machinery, pumps, pipe fitting, welding and fabrication
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
