Duties and Expectations Boundary Research And Analysis Conduct thorough research on property boundaries, including historical records, legal documents, and previous surveys. Analyze and interpret survey data to determine accurate property boundaries. Identify discrepancies or conflicting information and resolve boundary-related issues.
CAD Drafting Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed survey drawings. Prepare precise boundary plats, maps, and legal descriptions. Ensure adherence to industry standards and local regulations in drafting and documentation.
Field Visits Conduct occasional field visits to verify and gather data related to property boundaries. Use surveying instruments and equipment to measure and record precise locations and dimensions. Collaborate with field crews to ensure accurate data collection and resolve any field-related challenges.
Documentation And Reporting Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation of survey findings, including boundary analysis and field observations. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to legal requirements in all documentation. Communicate survey results and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Compliance And Regulations Stay updated with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to land surveying. Ensure compliance with surveying standards, codes, and ethical guidelines. Address any legal or regulatory issues that arise during the surveying process.
Quality Assurance Conduct quality checks and reviews of survey data, documentation, and deliverables. Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision. Continuously improve surveying processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Professional Development Stay up to date on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in land surveying. Attend professional development workshops, seminars, and conferences to expand knowledge and skills. Pursue relevant certifications or licenses to enhance professional qualifications.
Job Requirements Experience: 5-15 years Experience in some combination of Transportation surveys, Land development, ALTA, Boundary and Topographic mapping, and utilities Professional Licensure is required (State of Illinois required, and/or Indiana & Wisconsin) Strong written and oral communication skills Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment Self-starter, self-motivated; capable of staying focused with limited to no supervision Valid driver's license with insurable driving record Proficient in either AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley MicroStation software Proficient in Trimble surveying products
