This position is responsible for the management of day-to-day accounting functions related to manufacturing operations. This position works with and is an integral part of the team charged with decision-making and the overall success of the company. The Plant Controller reports to the Director of Finance with a dotted line reporting relationship to the V.P. & Controller-Manufacturing Business Unit. The Plant Controller is responsible for ensuring all plant accounting functions are handled in a timely, accurate manner. The incumbent is responsible for managing a variety of accounting and other business-related functions, including:
Ensures compliance with company policies, internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Ensures accurate and timely monthly financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to Marmon and effectively communicating financial results internally to facilitate decision making.
Oversees day-to-day functions, e.g., accounts payable, general accounting, inventory accounting, etc., are carried out in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Manages a team of 3 accountants.
Provides necessary support.
Ensures proper results from the inventory spreadsheets.
Analysis of materials consumed and other variances.
Supervise physical inventories.
Property ledger maintenance and fixed asset inventories
Maintain direct cost accounting environment at manufacturing facility.
Assist with preparing the annual budget for the plant.
Participates in and actively supports Quality projects and activities and Responsible Care initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, a minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience with cost accounting, in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced degree and CPA are beneficial.
Ability to effectively supervise both staff and clerical employees with a minimum of 2 years of management experience.
Ability to analyze financial and other information into the operations of the company.
Ability to integrate non-financial and other information into the operations of the company.
Highly motivated, creative, innovative, self-starter, and makes decisions.
Direct and lead subordinates to improve and simplify processes.
