Job Summary

The Director of Operations oversees a regional operation and will lead a dynamic group in executing a high level of customer care with financial responsibility for all accounts. Develops and maintains relationships of trust with property management/customer contacts at all assigned accounts. The Director of Operations directs the activities and will oversee the training and development of a team in the Riverside, CA market, and will provide a safe and respectful work environment for all.

Through effective communication and company support, the Director of Operations will focus on five key areas:

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages field leaders and employees at customer facilities to ensure that customer expectations and agreed upon KPIs are met.
  • Holds team accountable to key performance indicators, process execution and company policies.
  • Results-driven with experience developing and executing a plan to improve results quickly, as well as communicate and celebrate positive results.
  • Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes. Drives standardization efforts.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify business opportunities and solutions.
  • Ensures standards for service quality, safety, equipment, and performance are maintained and that cost-effective resources are used to maximize service standards. Ensures fixed assets are preserved. Initiates recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to scope of work.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within functional areas. Alerts management of cost and labor over run. Makes recommendations and implements solutions to problems related to same.
  • Advises on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances, etc. Ensures managers and supervisors are adhering to company policy and administering practices in fair and equitable manner.
  • Manages P&L and controls expenses effectively.
  • Hires, trains, develops and delegates staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with human resources as appropriate.
  • Keeps up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.

Education and Experience
  • 7+ years of experience leading a service-based field organization. Janitorial, facilities services or other service-related industry highly preferred
  • Significant experience in a mobile leadership role with responsibility for a decentralized workforce and multiple customers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of California wage& hour and labor laws/regulations
  • 5+ years of direct P&L management accountability
  • Bachelor's degree; and/or equivalent experience preferred

Travel
  • Frequent daily travel within assigned territory, driving personal vehicle and/or company vehicle

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb, stoop, kneel or crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
