The Senior Cost Analyst will collect and analyze complex financial information related to the organization's costs, seeking ways to improve accuracy of budgets and forecasts and to decrease the cost of departments and projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures GAAP principles and Corporate polices on cost accounting are adhered to
Prepares financial reports and various accounting statements
Posts journal entries to general ledger
May train junior accounting staff
Generates summary sheets for use by supervisor or auditor
Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy
Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures
Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections
Develops cost standards, inventory valuation methodologies, and product line profit and loss statements
Develop monthly and annual forecasts and plans
Interface with the upper level management in discussing variances and developing forecasts and plans. Supports the management of the company's product inventory
Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
Develops the analytics to build forecasts and projections
Conducts market research to recommend changes to pricing or business models
Perform other tasks as assigned
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS
The position requires daily contact with all levels of TECO-Westinghouse and customers including Engineering, Marketing, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service and Accounting.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field and at least 3 to 6 years of progressive experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Effective written and oral communication
Demonstrated knowledge of intermediate-advanced Excel
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Identify a solution to a problem involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision will be provided. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively and take ownership of assigned projects in a fast-paced environment.
