Delphia is igniting a new field of therapeutics in hopes to transform the care of cancer patients. Together, we are working to advance first-in-class targeted cancer medicines leveraging Activation Lethality, a new field of cancer biology centered on cancer's surprising vulnerability to oncogene overactivation. While a bold idea, activation lethality is grounded in cancer genetics, and our medicines have potential to deliver benefit as monotherapy and to complement existing oncogene inhibitors to more durably hold cancer in check. Partnering together in a supportive, open, and collaborative environment, we share a sense of purpose, urgency, and commitment to patients to approach cancer biology through a different perspective and to establish activation lethality as the next wave of oncology therapeutics.
The Difference You'll Make
Delphia is searching for a Director of Biology to join the team! The director will be responsible for scientific leadership of a portfolio of biology projects, such as drug discovery programs, exploratory biology efforts, and/or translational research for activation lethal medicines. They will act as a manager and mentor to a team of cancer biologists and will be highly influential as a cross-functional project leader. A key thought-leader within Delphia, they will broadly impact Delphia's biology strategy as we pioneer this new field.
What You'll Do:
Lead mentor and grow a team of high-performing cancer biologists
Drive preclinical oncology program(s) forward from hit stage through IND with rigor, urgency, and creativity while ensuring highly effective collaborative teamwork
Develop and execute strategies for target validation, cell activity screening, demonstration of in vitro and in vivo proof of concept, and identification of pharmacodynamic and patient selection biomarkers
Manage CRO biologists to efficient and high-quality delivery of key experimental results for drug discovery
Effectively communicate strategy, plans, and results to a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Foster and inspire those around you via mission-oriented servant leadership; actively contribute to fostering a psychologically safe and inclusive culture
What you bring:
Depth of expertise in cancer biology evidenced by impact of contributions across multiple stages of drug discovery (target discovery/validation, drug discovery, translational research). Preference given to experience on novel, first in class targets or mechanisms.
Demonstrated success leading cross functional scientific teams in biotech or pharma settings
Past success as a manager of internal scientists and external CRO resources
Outstanding problem-solver; innovative, creative and versatile in approach to problems and their solutions
Bold-but-grounded: ambitious and innovative in pursuit of emerging science for new medicines, yet capable to ground innovation with practical experience
PhD in Biology or related discipline, with 8+ years of industrial experience, or equivalent
