The Project Estimator, using blueprints, job specifications, and their own experience, provides labor, material, and equipment cost estimates for excavating, utility, and related projects. They are accountable for all preconstruction activities including securing contracts, writing purchase orders, reviewing submittals and developing project budgets. The Estimator then communicates the budgetary guidelines for awarded projects to hand the job off to the Excavating Department Project and Operations Managers prior to the start of construction.
Skill Sets and Qualifications:
The ideal Project Estimator candidate would possess and demonstrate the following skill sets and qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of knowledge and experience estimating projects in the excavating industry, 10 years preferred
Thorough knowledge of Trimble Business Center earthwork estimating software.
Thorough knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid bidding and Heavy Job project management software. Strong analytic and math skills, detail oriented.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting blueprints, specifications and geotechnical reports
