About the Role
Jones Road Beauty is on the hunt for a meticulous and strategically-minded Senior Data Analyst to pioneer our data efforts. As the inaugural data role at Jones Road Beauty, this position will play a crucial role in shaping and building our data function and infrastructure. You'll collaborate closely with our team, ensuring the accuracy and depth of our data insights while managing various projects, from safeguarding data integrity to crafting actionable insights and dashboards that fuel our business growth. We're seeking someone with not only robust analytical skills but also a keen eye for detail and strategic acumen. Proficiency in Looker is a must. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, this role will serve as an individual contributor, spearheading the execution of tasks that drive our data-driven initiatives forward.
What you'll do
Data Analysis:
Conduct customized data analysis to effectively address diverse organizational inquiries and challenges.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive business strategy and performance.
Strategic Business Partnership:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key business questions and provide data-driven solutions.
Act as a senior business partner, leveraging data insights to inform strategic decision-making and optimize business processes.
Lead by example in terms of best practices, analytical rigor, and strategic thinking within the data analysis function.
Data Infrastructure Management:
Oversee all data management processes, including maintaining our data warehouse and working with engineers to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Coordinate with external data engineering support to optimize data pipelines and processes.
Work closely with external Data Engineer
Dashboard and Report Development:
Generate, analyze, and maintain reports and Looker dashboards to provide actionable insights for various teams, including marketing, operations, retail, and finance.
Build new reports and dashboards to address evolving business needs and requirements.
Consumer and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Focus:
Leverage consumer data insights to inform strategic decision-making, with a preference for candidates experienced in direct-to-consumer industries.
Drive initiatives to enhance consumer understanding and optimize the direct-to-consumer experience.
Technical Aptitude:
Possess advanced proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques is advantageous.
Continuous Learning and Development:
Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analysis and data engineering.
Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in data analytics and related domains.
Communication and Translation of Data:
Translate technical data into easily understandable insights and actionable recommendations for the broader company.
Ensure effective communication of analytical findings to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making across the organization.
What you'll bring
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science, economics or a related field.
***Ability to work from our Montclair, NJ office as required***

Proficiency in Daasity, SQL, Excel, Lookr and/or other data visualization tools with an aptitude for learning other analytic tools
Familiarity with ecommerce platforms and tools such as Shopify.
Familiarity with Snowflake and/or other data warehouses.
A baseline understanding of the beauty, tech or ecommerce industry.
Strong analytical skills and communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Adept at problem-solving, with a strategic mindset and an eye for detail.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start up and creative environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
