A full-time Research Technician position is available to serve on a laboratory-based research project that is designed to improve the success of seed-based restoration strategies in the Intermountain West. The project requires fine attention to detail and daily measuring of seeds and seedlings. Lab work will involve extensive microscopy, taking measurements with a Li-cor and WinRHIZO, and computer work (e.g., data sheet preparation and data entry in Excel, research on preferred germination strategies for specific species). Some field and greenhouse work will also be needed and completed alongside lab-work.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's degree in biological or environmental sciences, ecology, or related field required.
Required Qualifications
One year of experience assisting with laboratory or greenhouse-based research is required.
All candidates should be able to lift 22.5 kg (50 lbs.), be capable of standing or sitting for long periods of time, as needed, to perform standard laboratory procedures.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with plants and microscopy is preferred. A background or interest in plant ecology is preferred.

The pay range for this job profile is $15.29 - $20.41. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
