The Sr. Carrier Manager I works strategically with a specific account customer to gain an understanding of their specific transportation procurement challenges and to jointly explore procurement opportunities end to end – from strategy to post bid carrier performance management. In addition, the Sr. Manager provides tactical decision-making services that bridge the gap between strategic planning and operational execution. Our customer has taken advantage of our multi-level approach and have realized benefits such as; reduced costs, improved service, committed core carrier capacity, improved utilization of Uber Freight Internal Services, lowest cost mode conversion, assignment of carriers to dedicated lanes and reduction of detention and accessorial charges. Managing carriers and building strong carrier relationships is critical to this process. This position leads end-to-end transportation procurement, from strategy to post bid analytics and carrier performance. This position will work Onsite at our office in Greensboro, North Carolina and interviews will be conducted Onsite at this location as well.
What the Candidate Will Do
Carrier Performance Management
Evaluate bid compliance by analyzing actual results versus the response provided in the bid
Evaluate carrier on time service at the weekly, monthly and quarterly level
Evaluate carrier tender acceptance at the weekly, monthly and quarterly level
Evaluate on cost outside of annual contracted rates
Carrier Relationship Management
Participate and lead in the development of capacity solutions for Uber Freight Customer
Administration and coordination of onsite and virtual meetings for external carriers
Carrier setup and EDI / Carrier Portal support
Internal Analytical Support
Provide expert advice in Microsoft Excel and other applications to all end users
Provide expert advice in Tableau to customers, carriers and all other end users
Engage with Operational team to identify needed capacity, carrier performance, and rectify issues experienced by the Operations team
Participate in Internal Benchmarking Activities
Statistical Analysis
Analysis of bid data, and FAM data to determine if sourcing is required
Research & Development
Data Mining including carrier classifications, specialty score carding, historical information and other Uber Freight data
Design and compile external surveys to collect information to provide value add service to customer requirements
Design and compile surveys to measure company performance against carrier expectations
Participation in the Uber Freight Response to RFI and RFP by providing detailed information on sustainability initiatives, carrier contracts, load volume, etc.
Travel
Some travel will be required (5%)
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum 2+ years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience analyzing and managing Truckload transportation, either at a shipper, carrier or 3PL. Knowledge of truckload industry, major carriers, cost drivers, and best practices
Experience with Flatbed and Bulk shipments
Expertise in transportation procurement and use of technology to execute bid events
Knowledge of Federal Regulations (Including DOT, FMCSA, CSA, HOS, etc.)
High Level Knowledge of Tableau and Microsoft Office
