What You Will Accomplish:

As the Plant Superintendent, you will be a critical member of the LeMar Leadership Team. You will oversee operations for the Des Moines plant across all shifts, ensuring high quality structural products for our customers in an ethical, focused, and professional manner.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the day-to-day operations to ensure a fluid shift-handover, continuation of jobs and projects, and other ongoing items needing to be addressed.
  • Actively coaches, develops, and counsels employees, ensuring they are continually growing in their skillsets.
  • Track, maintain, and work to improve specific department and plant-wide performance metrics of OCE (On-Time, Complete, and Error-Free) through training, continuous improvement projects, and various other methods.
  • Promote and lead production team members in all aspects of 5S and LDMS principles.
  • Partner with detailers and engineering to resolve print questions or concerns.
  • Manages and monitors materials and consumable shortages while assisting in sequencing, ship dates, and deliveries of jobs to customers.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field; Will consider combination of experience and relevant coursework
  • Experience:3-5 years of manufacturing experience within Steel industry; familiarity of structural steel manufacturing and welding/fabrication very helpful
  • Functional Skills: Exceptional people management skills; strong planning, organizational, and execution skills; Strong technical aptitude; Detailed and analytical; Ability to manage multiple competing priorities; Strong understanding of safety and OSHA regulations; Ability to develop, mentor, and grow team members
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office; experienced with ERP systems
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Open and transparent communicator

Other Important Information:

Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise.

Reports To: Plant Manager

Typical Work Week: Monday through Friday; 7:00am-4:00pm; will need to stay later occasionally to overlap 2nd shift

Direct Reports: Approximately 60

Work Conditions: Manufacturing/Production Environment
